SANTA FE - SUPER CHIEF
The Super Chief was inaugurated in 1936 by the Santa Fe Railroad as an All-Pullman luxury train. During 1938,
EMD-1 units arrived with lightweight streamlined cars that featured distinct Navajo indian decor. During the late
1940's, EMDF-3 and F-7 passenger units typically handled the train. Super Chief remained on Santa Fe rails between Chicago
and Los Angeles with the 36+ hour schedule.
